the roads leading to a doggie daycare shut down. path of destruction. nbc 10 follows local leaders as they tour the damage. >> rough ride. a witness describes how the driver of this vehicle managed to escape. power problems. it is back to work tomorrow but thousands of people still don't have power in their homes. nbc 10 spent the day with county leaders but we're told it could be several more days in the dark. good evening. i'm denise. some drivers sleeping in their vehicles because they can't get around downed trees. we have live team coverage. we start with lauren mayk.

>> reporter: in the past hour they opened this road up to traffic and that is a major development. it has been closed since friday. crews needed to replace power pole here because the old one was knocked over during the storm. that cut off access here and disrupted lives and livelyhoods. the black top has back default gathering spot. terry was reunited with her dog. >> they were in touch with me all the time. they made sure i knew alfie was safe. >> reporter: more than 100 dogs were at the what a good dog daycare center when a pole took down the wires. you can't get your truck out? >> no way of. >> reporter: ramon drives an 18

wheeler and said he's been stranded here for days. unable to get the 70-foot truck through. >> where were you supposed to be going? >> to tuscaloosa, alabama. i was supposed to be there at 8:00. >> reporter: a truck with a welcome sign followed by more equipment to fix it. open the road and get the power back on. >> then take a cut back through the woods to get on the other side of the damage. >> for now, this path is the way those who have worked or jobs to attend to have to get around the package. they're hoping they won't have to do when it the workweek hits. and the 125 jobs are expected to show up. >> people need to care for their dogs. need on get to work time so they'll appear here and hopefully have access to the

facility. >> reporter: and it looks like they will be able to get through and not have to do long walk around. this also means the two trucks that were stuck back there, they were able to drive out to very happy truck drivers waving to us as they got back on the road. live from malvern. abc 10 news. >> progress being made tonight. crews showed up from as far as illinois to help get the power book across our region. there are just over 100,000 customers in the dark. the hardest hit areas are chester, montgomery and delaware counties. drew smith joins us live. one of every four people in delaware county are still without power. >> reporter: and you see what we're dealing with here, denise. telephone poles snapped like tooth picks. we've got a medical kroernlt emergency back-up. over here at this intersection, you can see fortunately the traffic signals are working.

that's only because they brought out a portable generator. there are so many completely in the dark and that's a big concern as we head toward morning commute. extra generator power has arrived at the wesleyan senior living center. head to move people into common rooms and add portable generators. the power knocked out since friday, the back-up generators need someday help. >> the general concern is what 48, 48 hours of this is. >> the obstacles keep coming. we need all the resources available through the state. >> pennsylvania's governor is now sending chain saw gangs in. many neighborhoods not only dark but cut off to traffic. >> it is our most vulnerable citizens. so please check on your neighbors. >> they've asked to make it a

top priority. just in case this temporary shelter pod is here and they hope they don't have to move seniors out. >> everything we can do to prevent it. >> reporter: and they've canceled schools for tomorrow. the main reason, the school bus lot is down the street and they haven't document get rid of the power lines. the kids will have no school tomorrow. the concern is for a lot of people heading back to work. state police should be making sure people don't go through. >> if you approach the stoplights, you have to stop like it is a four-way stop. >> and we're already seeing some school delays for tomorrow and closures that will include hafrford township. make sure you download to make sure you know when your school is closed. today we're hearing about

close calls during the storm. a tree crash in the front of a truck with a driver inside an old golf road. and you can see that impact as the front of the vehicle caved in. neighbors heard a loud noise. we talked to a man who managed to crawl out. >> i put my head out. i came in. he had blood on his face. a little disoriented. it turns out this is his car. he said he managed to crawl out the window. >> lydia tells us she saw the driver come back last night, getting some personal items. she said the entire block is still without power but neighbors are helping neighbors. >> and septa hopes to get running. there were minor delays. they home to fix the wires above the tracks.

the jersey shore saw more flooding today than yesterday. this was scene in berkeley township. there was flooding around lunch time. as the region tries to recover, we are tracking another strong storm and nbc 10's first meteorologist is looking the your sunday night and monday. >> that's right. just cleaning up from the last storm. the clean-up continues. we have to focus on the now. this is a fading sunset. you tune in next week. the sunset will be at 7:02. the big story are the feels like temperatures. they're dropping and dropping quickly in the lower 30s to upper 20s. if you are headed out and about for tonight, you want to plan for this. feeling like 18 despite a sky full of sunshine. the suburbs waking up to temperatures that feel like 16. 16 degrees sunshine. so the heavier jacket is

tomorrow starts an important day for bill cosby. his lawyers and prosecutors will debate over how many of the xheed yandle's accusers are allowed to testify. prosecutors want to call as many as 19 other women to show cosby had a five decade pattern of allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting women. the first trial ended in a hung jury. if the judge allows other women to testify, cosby's attorneys say they'll ask for the trial to be delayed. the 80-year-old is accused of assaulting a woman 15 years ago. the trial is set to begin april 2. three weeks ago today, a fire tore through this oblg chestnut street. apartments and businesses were damaged. some beyond repair.

today, one of the restaurants impacted by the fire held a fund-raiser for the employees. the owners have about 80 employees who are now out of work. the owners donated their space, staff and beverages for today's events. >> i always knew that we had a tight-knit community in philadelphia. we are always supporting each other and coming to stuff like this. when it is your own restaurant, your own employees need to be lifted up. it means a lot and people came out in full force. over 100 restaurants are represented here. >> right now the future is uncertain for the little lion. they haven't been allowed inside the restaurant. they expect to be closed for at least two months. next, taking our minds off the weather and dreaming of spring. what people are saying as they escape to the flower show. tracking the next storm. i have my eye on this storm out

getting all the salt and dirt off their cars. as thousands remain in the dark including some in the lehigh valley, we're taking a look at the next storm. steve is tracking yet another nor'easter headed our way. steve? >> yeah. i wish i had better news to deliver this sunday evening. unfortunately, the computer models haven't shifted during day. we're still tracking the nor'easter. again, potentially on wednesday. first another day of clean-up here for many of out monday. it looks bright, breeze can i and chilly. get the rest of your work done or maybe rein accordance you're fatigued from the work you've been doing. tuesday is another breather and then wednesday a nor'easter arrives. and it looks like a potential plowable chunk of the area. first alert doppler radar is quiet here on this sunday evening. and certainly what we want to see. what we don't want to see is the storm that has made landfall

across the west. it is this little curly cue that will make its way across the country by tuesday night. and then redevelop off the coast on wednesday. the implications are significant in terms of snowfall. here's tuesday, 6:00. you can see the storm gathering steam. it is not out of the question that some light rain or light snow starts falling. the real discrepancy is, when does this snow start? somehow a much later start time. so this is something you'll need shift back into. the timing is still questionable. what we do sng there will be a period of heavier snow coming in. wednesday, specially earlier afternoon hours. you see the low pressure. that's the next northeast per will be up the most. and again, especially inland supports. it looks like heavier snow. it is not out of the question if it makes its way out of the

jersey shore. again, it is a very fine tuning situation and it will be important. where the snow falls, it will be a plowable snow and it will be heavy, wet and sonny. the kind you don't want to save for more. the differences here, the wind won't be as intense. especially inland areas. there will be some coastal flooding, depending on the track here. i think the biggest impact will be the heavy snow for the wednesday evening commute. i look at south philadelphia. 32 days away from the philadelphia phillies home opener. the center city skyline. you're looking pretty good tunneled clear skies at the moment. so let's take a look at the current temperatures. we have mid to upper 30s, low 40s. the winds drop the temperature to feeling like the 20. so make sure you're dressed for it tomorrow morning. the wind shows will be in the
